All ALS Providers in the Midstate
EMS Region, must complete a series of skill requirements, two
times a year.
The first reporting period (First
Semester) begins May 1st of each year, and ends October 31st
of each year. The Second Semester begins on November 1st and
ends on April 30th. The skill requirements for each level are
listed on the opposite page.
All ALS Providers, in the Midstate EMS Region, must also complete
didactic, or classroom time each year. The time can be submitted
any time during the first or second semester. The required hours
are also listed on the opposite page. Remember, at least 50%
of the required hours must be ALS.
If you are a new provider or are changing levels within the
region you will need to contact this office prior to practicing
at the level you are certified. If you have taken a refresher
course, you will need to submit a copy of your current card to
this office. The course sponsors who put the courses on only
receive scores for each student. They DO NOT get copies of the
EMT cards. It is the provider's responsibility to send a current
copy of their EMT card to the Program Agency.
Once the Program Agency has a current copy of your EMT/CPR cards,
your required skills and/or didactic time, you will be sent a
Medical Control card which grants you privileges to practice
at the level outlined on the card. If the necessary documentation
is not on file, you will be suspended and have no privileges
to practice above the level of a Basic EMT.
